George "Bud" Finch

New Limestone Town Manager Begins New Job 18 May 2020
Meet the Town Manager

On Wednesday, April 29th, 2020 the Town of Limestone Board of Selectmen unanimously appointed George “Bud” Finch as their new Town Manager.

Bud will be moving back to Maine after spending the past year in Florida and will reside in Limestone. He grew up in Eastport before moving on to Hartford, Ct then returned to Maine in 1978. He raised his three, now grown sons, in Wells and has two grandchildren. When asked about his sons he will tell you he is proud of all three of them and their successes but also making him the only three time father of Bananas the UMaine mascot.

He brings to the Town a diverse background having worked in both the private and public sectors. The majority of his private sector career was spent as a project engineer at Pratt & Whitney in both East Hartford, Ct. and North Berwick, Me. This was followed up by his municipal services which includes 6-years on the Board of Selectmen in Wells, 15-years as City Manager in Eastport and 8 plus years as Town Manager of Harrison. He also has a long fire & rescue service background which includes Fire Chief and State Fire Instructor.

He considers his municipal career to be a 24/7 schedule not 9 to 5, and performs with an open door policy under the belief that the difference between the private sector and the public sector is in the public sector the customers are also the owners of the business.

In addition to typical municipal functions he managed Eastport’s Airport, Wastewater Treatment Facility, Solid Waste and Economic Development Program.

Affiliations include Board of Directors of Eco-Maine, Eastport Port Authority, Passamaquoddy Water District, Marion Transfer Station, Calais Regional Hospital and the MMA Legislative Policy Committee, Washington County Development Authority, Washington County Emergency Medical Service, St. Croix Economic Alliance, WCCC – Advisory Board, Marion Transfer Station Directors, York County Elected Officials Association, Regional Communications/E911 Task Force, Southern Maine Regional Planning, Wells High School Advisory Board, Condition of Kids Committee, Locate in Wells York County Tech College Proposal, Wells Rotary Club Charter Member/Past President, SMTC Fire Science & Machine Trades Advisory Board, Maine Development Foundation-Leadership Maine Program, MMA/USM Municipal Leadership Program, Washington County Leadership Institute Program.

He looks forward to serving the people of Limestone and Aroostook County.
